Track Custom Agent credit usage, forecast needs, and manage spend 📈

Jump to FAQs

The Notion credits dashboard gives workspace admins a clear view of how Custom Agents use Notion credits across their workspace. Use it to monitor usage, plan future credit needs, and manage ongoing spend.

The Notion credits dashboard is a workspace-level dashboard where admins can:

  • Purchase Notion credits starting May 4, 2026, or contact your account team to explore additional options.

  • Monitor credit usage in real time.

  • See projected usage through your monthly service date.

  • Track agent-level runs and credit usage to identify the agents driving spend so you can adjust them as needed.

Notion credits are shared across the workspace and reset each month, with unused credits not rolling over. Additional credit options may be available through your account team.

What does this mean for you?

Now through May 3, 2026

Custom Agents are free to use on Business and Enterprise plans, including Business trials. During this time, teams can explore Custom Agents in real workflows while admins use the dashboard to understand adoption and prepare for future usage.

Admins can use the dashboard to:

  • Track adoption and overall usage patterns

  • Identify which workflows and agents drive the most activity

  • Estimate future credit needs based on real usage

Starting May 4, 2026

Custom Agents will begin using Notion credits to run. The Notion credits dashboard will become your main place to purchase credits, track usage, and manage costs.

Admins will be able to buy credits directly from the dashboard, and any agents created during the free beta will pause at your next monthly service date if there aren’t enough credits available.

From the dashboard, admins can also:

  • Make sure enough credits are available each month to keep agents running smoothly

  • Pause high-usage agents and fine-tune workflows before turning them back on

Optimize credit usage

1) Usage summary

  • At the top of the dashboard, you’ll see the total Notion credits used for the selected period and your credits reset date. The selected period is based on your workspace’s billing cycle.

  • This gives you a quick snapshot of your usage so far and when your monthly billing cycle ends.

2) Time period controls

In the top-right corner, use the period selector (for example, Current period) and navigation arrows to review past periods.

3) Usage chart

The usage chart shows credit usage over time:

  • Current shows your actual credits used so far.

  • Estimated projects where your usage is likely to land by the reset date if current patterns continue.

Use this to spot whether you’re pacing toward running out of credits before the reset.

4) Workspace usage cards

Under This month’s usage, you’ll see adoption and activity metrics such as:

  • Agent builders: how many members are creating Custom Agents.

  • Agents in action: how many live Custom Agents are running during the period.

  • Runs completed: how many tasks agents have completed across your workspace.

5) Agent-level breakdown

Below the summary section, you’ll see a table breaking usage down by agent. This typically includes:

  • Notion credits used

  • Runs completed

  • Status

  • Created by

Admins can use the Notion credits dashboard and Custom Agent controls to monitor credit usage and set guardrails for how Custom Agents run.

1) Avoid unexpected usage

  • Admins can disable a Custom Agent at any time to stop runs while you review activity, investigate unexpected usage, adjust instructions, or fine-tune the workflow before turning it back on.

2) Keep usage efficient

  • Admins can quickly see which agents are driving usage and who created them, making it easier to optimize workflows for more efficient credit consumption. Learn more about ways to optimize Custom Agents.

3) Stay in control at scale

Admins have tools to manage Custom Agents across the workspace and beyond:

  • Control who can create agents: Decide whether everyone, only owners, or specific members can create Custom Agents to support a controlled rollout.

  • Disable agent: Admins can disable a Custom Agent anytime to immediately stop runs while they investigate unexpected credit usage or adjust the agent’s settings/instructions.

  • Track usage across your workspace: Monitor overall credit consumption and agent activity in one place.

FAQs

What happens if we run out of Notion credits?

Custom Agents pause automatically until you add more credits or your credits reset at the start of the next billing cycle.

How can I optimize credit usage across my workspace?

You can typically reduce credit usage by:

  • Reducing how often an agent runs (use more specific triggers or a lower schedule frequency).

  • Narrowing what an agent reads (smaller page/database scope).

  • Reducing the number of steps/actions per run.

To optimize how many credits your agents use per run, see best practices for optimizing your Custom Agent .

What happens when credits are insufficient?

If your workspace doesn’t have enough Notion credits, Custom Agents will pause automatically until credits reset or an admin adds more credits.

How do admins get notified before running out of credits?

Admins receive in-app (and email) notifications when your workspace reaches 80% and 100% of its Notion credit usage, so you have time to adjust before agents pause.

How do I purchase or add more credits (starting May 4, 2026)?

Admins can purchase Notion credits either in-product or through their account team.

  • If you manage billing in-product: Purchase pre-set amounts in-product via your Notion credits dashboard that range from hundreds to thousands of credits based on your team’s needs.

  • If you work with an account team: Purchase through them, with additional credit options available to fit your needs.
