Scale your team: Building teamspaces

Create teamspaces and explain best ways to construct a sidebar for teams by comparing and contrasting methods of sidebar organization.

Teamspace administration

Teamspaces are a useful solution to complicated permissions needs. In many ways, they function like Slack channels which can be customized depending on your company's working style and needs.

When creating a new teamspace, you select a permission settings:

  • Open means anyone can join.

    • In general we recommend defaulting having Open teamspaces, with some exceptions.

  • Closed means anyone can see the teamspace exists, but can only join with an invitation.

    • Closed teams are useful when you need some control over who can view team content.

  • Private means only teamspace members will be able to see that it exists.

    • Private team spaces are helpful when a group is working on something sensitive that you need a degree or privacy or anonymity for.
