Learn how Notion Agent uses Memories to remember details about your work.

Notion Agent can use Memories to understand helpful context about your role, current work, frequent collaborators, and important pages. Memories are private to you and help guide Notion Agent's responses, but they don’t replace the pages, databases, or connected tools that hold the most up-to-date info.

To view your Memories for Notion Agent:

  1. Go to Settings → Notion AI.

  2. In the Memory section, find Saved memories and select Memories to open your Memories database, or About page to see the summary your agents read about you.

Workspace owners can turn Memories on or off for Notion Agent across the workspace. When this is off, no one's Notion Agent or MCP-connected AI tools can save or use Memories. Custom Agents have their own Memories setting, which anyone who can edit the agent controls.

When Memories are on for your workspace, you decide how they work for you:

  • Memories are on by default for your Notion Agent. You can turn them off anytime with the Use memories toggle in Settings → Notion AI → Memory. This also stops AI tools connected through MCP from using your Memories. If you see Disabled by workspace admin, a workspace owner has turned Memories off.

  • Memories are off by default for each Custom Agent. You can turn them on for a specific Custom Agent when you want it to learn over time.

Notion Agent can remember useful context, like:

  • Your role, team, and the people you work with often.

  • Your active projects and workflows.

  • The pages you use often.

  • Preferences or corrections you share in chats.

Memories work best for context that stays useful over time. They aren't meant for one-time requests or facts that should come from a current source.

Your agent makes Memories while it works with you in a chat. Right now, it doesn't build Memories from your other pages, comments, or connected apps.

Memories can also come from AI tools you connect to Notion. An agent connected through the Notion MCP can create and read your Memories directly, using Notion's memory tools. So tools you work in outside Notion, like Claude Code, ChatGPT, or Codex, can add to the same Memories.

Your Memories are saved in Notion, so they're portable. When you connect other AI tools through MCP, they can read and write these same Memories. That way, you can switch between tools and still bring your Memories along.

  • Your Memories are private to you.

  • Notion Agent doesn’t mix your Memories with anyone else’s.

  • Memories don’t give your agent access to anything new. Notion Agent can only use content it already has permission to see.

  • The same is true for AI tools you connect through MCP. A connected agent can only use content you already have permission to see.

常见问题

What are Memories?

Memories are context that your Notion Agent and Custom Agents learn over time, like your role, priorities, collaborators, and important pages. They help your agents start future chats with more context.

Are Memories private?

Yes. Memories are private to each user.

Can I edit or delete a Memory?

Yes. Open your Memories, then edit or remove anything you don't want your agent to keep.

Who decides if Memories are available?

A workspace owner decides whether Notion Agent can use Memories in the workspace. If it's allowed, you can turn Memories off for yourself. Custom Agents have their own Memories setting, which is off by default and can be turned on by anyone who can edit the agent.

Do I need a paid plan to use Memories?

Memories are available wherever Notion AI is turned on for your workspace. Notion AI, which includes Notion Agent, is part of the Business and Enterprise plans. If you create Memories in another AI tool connected through the Notion MCP, you'll still see them in your Memories database in Notion.
