Starting August 3, 2026, Notion AI usage allowance applies. Usage resets that day, and anyone who reaches their allowance can wait for it to refresh or continue with Notion credits if their workspace allows it.

To keep Notion AI fast and reliable, Business and Enterprise plans include a usage allowance for certain Notion AI features. If you come close to using the full allowance, access to some AI features may temporarily pause while your usage refreshes.

You can view how your usage is tracking and when it refreshes in the usage dashboard so you can plan for heavier usage sessions.

Usage is measured in two windows:

  • A rolling, six-hour window

  • A monthly window

If certain Notion AI features are temporarily unavailable due to your usage allowance, you can:

  • Wait a bit. Your access resets automatically within six hours. You don’t need to do anything. If you’ve used your full monthly allowance instead, your access comes back at the start of your next billing cycle.

  • Use other Notion AI features that usage allowance doesn’t apply to, like AI meeting notes.

  • Use Notion credits to keep going. If your admin has turned this on for your workspace, you can continue using Notion AI features right away by spending Notion credits for additional usage.

A rolling window means usage frees up little by little as your older activity ages out of the six-hour window, instead of resetting all at once at a set time. If you use up your full allowance, you won’t be able to use certain Notion AI features temporarily until enough usage refreshes within that six-hour window. In the meantime, you can keep using the rest of Notion.

View how much of your allowance you’ve used in SettingsNotion AIUsage. We’ll also give you a heads-up within Notion Agent chat as you get close so you have time to adjust.

Along with the rolling six-hour window, your usage is measured over your monthly billing cycle. This window doesn’t refresh gradually. It resets all at once at the start of your billing cycle.

If you use your full monthly allowance, certain Notion AI features will pause until your next billing cycle begins. While you wait, you can keep using the rest of Notion. If your admin has turned it on, you can also use Notion credits to keep going right away. You can track both your rolling and monthly usage in SettingsNotion AIUsage.

The usage allowance applies to some Notion AI features, including:

It does not apply to other features, such as:

  • Batch big tasks: Group related work into one prompt to reduce back-and-forth.

  • Reuse context: Stay in the same thread so Notion Agent can use what you’ve already shared instead of reprocessing it.

  • Be specific: Include your goal, what success looks like, and the format you want up front. Calling out what not to do can also reduce rework.

  • Right-size the model for the task: Use an efficient model for quick edits, summaries, and formatting, and save the most powerful model for high-stakes writing, complex reasoning, or multi-step work.

By default, members who use the full allowance have to wait for it to reset. Workspace owners and admins can allow members to use Notion credits to keep going instead.

To turn this on:

  • In the sidebar, go to SettingsNotion AI.

  • Toggle on Allow workspace to use Notion credits after AI limit is reached.

When this is on, members who hit the allowance will see the option to continue with Notion credits. When it’s off, they’ll need to wait for their access to reset.

If a workspace owner or admin allows members to use Notion credits past the allowance, they can track credit usage in the Notion credits dashboard by going to SettingsAccess & billingNotion credits. Each member’s usage appears as its own row so you can see who is spending credits and how much.

Notion has usage allowances to help keep Notion AI running smoothly, reliably, and fairly for all users. As Notion AI evolves, we may update how these allowances work, including the features impacted, the size of the allowances, how they’re calculated, and how they work alongside Notion credits.

Câu hỏi thường gặp

Does my allowance reset every six hours?

No. Instead of resetting all at once, your usage frees up gradually as older activity ages past the six-hour mark.

Think of this like a six-hour rolling clock. As your older Notion AI activity gets more than six hours old, that usage frees back up. You don't have to wait for a full reset.

Your monthly allowance works differently. It resets all at once at the start of your next billing cycle.

When does my monthly allowance reset?

Your monthly allowance resets at the start of your next billing cycle. Unlike the rolling window, it doesn't free up little by little. If you use your full monthly allowance, you can wait for your next billing cycle to start, or use Notion credits to keep going if your admin has turned that on.

How will I know I’m close to running out of my allowance?

You can track your own Notion AI usage from SettingsNotion AIUsage.

We’ll also notify you as you get close and when you’ve used your full allowance.

Can my workspace get additional Notion AI usage?

Yes. Workspace admins can let members keep using Notion AI beyond the allowance by spending Notion credits.

This is off by default. Admins can turn it on in SettingsNotion AI.

Does this impact Custom Agents or Workers?
