Final Year Project
About this template
This template will give you a solid foundation for tracking your progress in a final year project for University. Track your milestones such as reaching a Proof of Concept or formulating your research question. Keep up with your Tasks using KanBan which connects to your milestones so you can have a % done metric. Keep up with meetings (reviews, feedback sessions etc) and connect them to your notes! Automations are included to update properties such as setting a task's status to 'Doing' when you create a Task - there are a set of buttons ready to create pages with auto-filled properties.
Research Question:
The template begins with a callout section dedicated to the research question. This prominently displays the core focus of the project, following the format: "How can [specific technology or method] be applied to improve [general area or process] in [broad industry or field]?"
Milestones:
A database view is provided to track project milestones. This allows for easy visualization and management of key project stages and deadlines.
The milestones are related to tasks and meetings - gathers progress from tasks.
Meetings:
Another database view is included for logging and organizing meetings. This can be used to keep track of supervisor consultations, group discussions, or any other project-related gatherings. Meetings are related to Milestones and have connected notes.
Tasks:
A tasks database view enables students to break down their project into manageable steps, assign priorities, and monitor progress on individual tasks. Tasks have notes and milestones as relations and have a KanBan view with a extra 'Done' status for an abandoned state for stale or unnecessary tasks.
Notes:
The final section includes a notes database, providing a space for capturing ideas, research findings, and any other relevant information throughout the project lifecycle. Notes are attached to Meetings and Tasks and last edited/created time properties.
This template provides a comprehensive structure for managing a Final Year Project. It is designed to help students organize their research, track progress, and maintain all relevant information in one centralized location. Developed as part of the Notion CL4 program.
