Knowing your audience is the key to creating productive content and fostering meaningful connections. One method to better understand your audience is to create Audience Personas. These personas represent fictional characters embodying the traits, preferences, and behaviors of your target audiences. ⁠Most non-profit organizations will have at least 2-3 target audiences, including (but not limited to) current program participants, prospective program participants, donors, community partners, and government partners.

Your audience persona should aim to answer the following questions:

🎯 Goals & Aspirations: What does our audience hope to accomplish by engaging with our organization? Why might they connect with our mission?

📱 Preferred Channels: Where does our audience prefer to interact with our organization? What are their preferred communication channels?⁠

🚧 Pain Points: Why might our audience hesitate to engage with our organization? What barriers are preventing further engagement? ⁠
