A new sidebar, built for focus

Notion’s sidebar puts your workspace navigation, AI threads, and notifications in one consistent, customizable place.

To enable the new sidebar, go to the workspace switcher → Try the New Sidebar and toggle it on.

Home is changing from a full-page experience to a part of your sidebar, organized into sections like Recents, Favorites, Teamspaces, Agents, and more, that can be customized to fit your workflow.

If you use Home right now, here’s what will change when you move to the new sidebar experience:

• If you have Home set as your default start page, your start page will now default to Last Visited.

• My Tasks will move to a dedicated spot at the bottom of the Home tab in the new sidebar.

• Events & Meetings will move to a dedicated tab in the new sidebar.

• Custom home views will be migrated to a page in your Private section.

• Recents will move to a dedicated section in the sidebar.

The sidebar is organized into top-level tabs. Each tab has its own icon, contents, and purpose.

Your Home tab is organized in sections, including Upcoming events, Recents, Favorites, Agents, Teamspaces, Shared pages, Private pages, and Notion apps.

My Tasks, Library, Marketplace, Help, and Trash sections are always accessible at the bottom of the Home tab.

Customize Home

To customize Home, click ••• on the side of any section or the Home tab icon.

• Show allows you to determine the number of items each section shows.

• Move up or Move down adjusts where a section is displayed in Home.

• Hide section hides a section from Home.

• Customize sidebar allows you to hide multiple row items and sections at once.

Open in Library

Next to each section, click the book icon to Open in Library. From Library, you can browse and navigate the full list of workspace content within that section.

Access Custom Agents and your Notion AI conversations to browse recent threads or pick up where you left off.

Agents

View Custom Agents you’ve created, sorted by recency of use. Click ••• on the side of any Custom Agent and choose Remove from favorites or Add to favorites to adjust how it appears in your sidebar. You can also jump to the agent’s settings, copy the link to an agent, or delete an agent.

Chat history

Access previous chats with Notion AI, sorted by recency. A blue dot next to a chat means there is an unread response in the chat.

Click ••• on the side of any chat to customize how they appear in the sidebar: Rename, Change icon, Delete, or Open chats.

Upcoming events

View and join any upcoming events. Click ••• on the side of any event to view the Call ID, Workspace participants, or Open in calendar.

Meeting history

Access meeting notes from previous meetings, sorted by recency. Click ••• on the side of any meeting note to Copy link to block, Duplicate, or Move to to add the meeting note to a page.

View all your notifications in one place, including mentions, comments, page updates, and reminders. Click a notification to go directly to the source page.

Icons at the top of your inbox can bulk take actions like Mark all as read, Archive all, Archive read, or apply filters to the notification list.

Click ••• on the side of any notification to change page notification settings, mark a notification as read, or archive a notification.

Open the search modal to search content inside your workspace.

At the bottom of each tab, you can create a new chat with AI, page, meeting note, or database using the buttons.
